Thank you from Debra Olson

No candidate runs a campaign like this on her own, and more than any I’ve ever been involved in, this one is truly a testament to that fact!  Though coming in second out of the four candidates, I am very proud of the excellence with which we ran this race.  I am grateful to my phenomenal campaign team, all the Republican Precinct Committeemen and elected officials who endorsed me and assisted on the campaign, my family, friends, and church for their dedication, hard work, unfailing loyalty, and prayers. And I am truly grateful to all the voters who supported me on their ballot on Tuesday.

A special thank you goes also to my County Board seatmates JR McBride and Grant Eckhoff for their faithful support and assistance in this election.  We have a wonderful district team on the County Board, and this election has tested us all.  Congratulations to JR on his well-deserved re-election to the County Board.

And now, a word about victory.  Yes, this is a victory.  We put a solid, conservative government message out there, a true contrast of my record to my opponents’.  We fought a good fight, campaigned on issues, and refused to stoop to personal smear tactics.  In the face of adversity, our team became stronger, more cohesive, and more determined than ever. 

Sometimes victory is not what you expect it to be.  Today, victory is one of spirit, commitment, friendship and loyalty.  Victory is that every challenge was met with an even greater resolve to overcome it.  Victory is that we ran a campaign we can be proud of, no matter the outcome.

I ran for County Board Chairman because I love DuPage County, and that isn’t going to change.  I will continue to work to protect our quality of life as a member of the DuPage County Board. And I will keep the pressure on to be sure good government policies continue to have a voice here in DuPage.
